The American Legion Legacy Run

Riding for America’s Future

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund is for those children who lost parent(s) on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001. Is coming up on August 17-21, 2008 as Legion Riders across the Nation will be joining at American Legion National Headquarters in Indianapolis, IN and will end at the 90th National Convention in Phoenix, AZ.  National Commander Marty Conatser will help kick off the 2008 American Legion Legacy Run as he will jump on his bike and join in on The Legacy Run.

The fundraiser called “Riding for America’s Future” will start from Indianapolis, IN and end in Phoenix, AZ. Riders will join and increase the number of participants along the 1,800-mile route, which follows along much of the famous “Route 66.” The riders’ goal is to raise no less than $350,000 as it did last year.

We have two Legion Riders that will be participating in this year’s event and representing American Legion Post #155 well as they will raise money for these children as this list grows each day. Legion Riders Director Fred Bernquist and Past Vice Director Chuck Andrews will be traveling over 1,000 miles just to get to the starting line.

Donation’s will be delivered to the National Convention as the Legion Riders Chapter #155 will be traveling over 5,000 miles to deliver checks from the Community, Legion Members and 4th District Post’s, Units and Squadron’s. Please show your support by making out a check for any amount to: “The American Legacy Run” and it can be mailed to:

On Saturday, August 16, 2008 American Legion Post #155 held a Political Open Forum to all Candidates’ running for office in Citrus County in 2008. The purpose of this Forum was for each Candidate to get their word out to the public and to the vast majority of the Citrus County Veteran population.

Each Candidate was given 5 minutes to speak on their reasoning for running for running for their office and what they had to offer the citizens of Citrus County. Before and after the Forum each Candidate had a booth set up in the American Legion Hall and spoke to the concerned citizens and handed out pamphlets.

Stealing the show was the Honorable Judge Richard Howard as his proven track record of over 30 years career in Law and his visual displays was second to none. It is in the planning stages for American Legion Post #155 to hold yet another Political Forum just prior to the National Elections.

It is noted; the American Legion is a non-political organization and is not endorsing any party or candidate for office. The Forum Objective is to obtain a better understanding of each candidate’s views.
