Services
Offered
Many Posts have
certified Post Service Officers available to help you and your
dependents to obtain the VA benefits to which you are entitled. In
addition, full time American Legion Service Officers are stationed
at every VA Regional Office. Also, in Florida, almost every County
has a County Veteran Service
Office (CVSO) to assist in filing claims and obtaining
other services offered by the VA.

The Citrus County Veterans Service Office provides
assistance to the veterans of Citrus County and their families. Some
of the services we assist with are:
- Adaptive equipment
- Burial benefits
- Certificate of Eligibility (VA Home Loans)
- Compensation
- Death benefits
- Medals and awards
- Military ID cards
- Military retiree SBP
- Pensions
- Retrieve medical records
- VA Healthcare
- Veteran's transportation

Service Officers work
closely with the State Job Service Offices who have LVER (Local
Veterans Employment Representative) and DVOP (Disabled Veterans
Outreach Program) specialists to assist veterans with job placement
and rehabilitation training.
A program is set up to
aid a veteran family with dependent children in times of need. Any
veteran who is honorably discharged and meets the eligibility
requirements may request assistance for dependent children through
their local post. Grants are made for maintenance and medical.
Applications are originated by the local posts and forwarded to
Department Headquarters for final approval. More information is

The National Emergency
Fund was set up to provide assistance to Legion families during
times of disaster. Applications are available from Department
Headquarters.
